5. Under The Lights

When Was The First World Series Scheduled As A Night Game?

9 Things You Might Not Know About Baseball

The first game ever played “under the lights” was a local game played in 1880 in Nantasket Bay, Massachusetts.

Major League Baseball has been playing night games since the 1930s, but the 1949 World Series between New York Yankees the Brooklyn Dodgers became the first to have a game “finished under artificial lights.”

Game 4 of the 1971 World Series was the first scheduled World Series game to be played at night.
